Can I change the little green icons that show up in my texting to little yellow smilelys???? or something other than the little green blobs

I believe that the green smileys only show up if you're on an android phone- so if you're thing is you dont want others to see it, its whatever they have set (e.g. green smiles, yellow, etc.)
If you want to change it because you just dont like them, you can download a new keyboard (I have Go Keyboard). Each program (according to which keyboard you decide to download) will have their own sets of emoji plugins you can install.
Not sure if this will work the same (since I do have another keyboard installed) but you can try going to:
Settings->Language and input-> Then click on the round tool icon next to the keyboard you're using. ->Advanced setting-> smiley style/smiley key setting
*it might be very similar for you if its not the same
Found this on a google search as well:
If I choose Settings>Application Settings>Smiley Settings I can choose "Handcent", "Default" or "Custom". "Handcent" means I get yellow smiley faces, "Default" means I get green android faces and "Custom" means it loads up the marketplace (where it finds nothing, but if I manually go to the markeyplace I can find a pack that lets you add in the android smileys if your phone didn't come with them).
The other option is to go Settings>Application Settings>Default smileys items. From here I can choose to use emoji smileys, standard smileys or both.
Lots of info, I know. Hope something helps lol

I recently purchased my new samsung galaxy s3 in Australia and I am having the same issues with the green icons. I have read the instructions above, however I do not have under any of my settings for example Application Settings or Language and Input, a smileys setting. I want to be able to use the messaging on the samsung phone instead of using the GO SMS app from the Android store, as when I get an sms I get two messages - one in the Samsung messaging adn also in the GO SMS program.

Priscilla's settings are there because she has downloaded a different keyboard and aalso has Handcent. They are not available in the stock settings, and, from your comment are not added as part of Gosms. If you just want to use the stock app, just uninstall Gosms. If you'd rather keep Gosms, you can always disable and hide the inbuilt app so you only see the one set of messages.S3 International unlocked.
