My "Software Update" button is missing!!!

I've trawled the net and for some reason I appear to be the only person with this issue supposidly!

If you go into "Settings/About Device" then supposidly right at the top above "Status" should be the button "Software Update". Well, I don't have it.

Also, where as you may have the button "Developer Settings" above your "About Device", I have "Advanced Settings".

I have checked with 2 other guys in the office and they appear to be running with a Kernel dated 5th June. One is on Orange like me but bought his phone Sim Free via Amazon. The other is under contract with T Mobile.

My Kernel is an earlier one dated 13th May. I think this is my issue, but I cannot update the kernel as......I have no Software Update button ffs!!!!

I have spoken to Samsung who say they've not heard of this problem and will get someone in "Tech Support" will call me back. I spoke to Orange as although samsung provide the Firmware updates, and i'm showing as up to date in Kies, I belive the kernels are delivered by the phone companies. I also believe the kernels also are what give the phones their "branding" on screen during startup etc.

Their so called Tech Support didn't even know what a Kernel was, and tried to say with wit that it was something to do with that Saunders chap from KFC. How funny.....not. Believe me he got some abuse. He has also said that maybe one person on their team may know but is not in till 4pm and supposidly will also call me.

Anyone else got this fault, or know of a way of updating the software (not Firmware) as Kies only seems to update firmware?

    Thanks in advance
